Hi There, I’m Rebekah Passmore

I’m an Australian artist and educator living in Dunsborough, Western Australia. My work is truly unique and distinguishable; no two pieces are the same. I work instinctively with mediums that are quite temperamental and have gained such expertise and control of them over time. I draw a lot of inspiration from the ocean and the stark contrast of the Australian landscape.

I have an immense love of the Australian outback which is evident in my art; from our coral coast and the rich colours of the Kimberly, and from rock formations and their textures. I have always had a deep connection to nature which is an important part of my everyday living – individually as an artist and also with my family.

My family and I love nothing more than days spent at the beach, exploring, snorkelling and scuba diving, taking in sunsets and celebrating these beauties in life.

I am also a Secondary English, Drama and Special Education Teacher and part-owner of South West Luxury Transport. I began my art journey through sculpture and installation, moved to acrylic painting only to find my true passion with alcohol inks and resin in recent years. I am self-taught and have found that the mistakes I’ve made through trial and error are how I’ve truly grasped and mastered these mediums.

The Process.

The fluidity of the process can only be described as meditative and infinite. These mediums are by no means easy and having recently mastered the beauty of alcohol inks, I was one of the first artists to introduce aluminium boards to this process. Another edge to my style is that I also mix my own colours so that each piece is unique, never to be replicated.

To me, the inks have such a richness of colour and the medium feels endless. It has no boundaries and neither do my artworks; where they begin and where they end can be different for one person to the other, and I believe that this, is largely its beauty.
